Metro Staff on Strike! (But Metro Operations Stay Unaffected)
The Ahmedabad Metro strike kicked off as ticket counter staff protested over salary delays and missing Diwali bonuses. The metro staff protest began this morning, but metro operations remain unaffected.
Contract workers at Ahmedabad Metro’s ticket counters have gone on strike, upset over unpaid salaries from last month and this year’s missing Diwali bonus.
This morning, staff from various metro stations gathered near the Old High Court Metro Station. They protested against delayed payments and alleged mistreatment by metro officials, refusing to report for duty.
According to the workers, their monthly pay is just ₹10,000. During Diwali, they received only half their salary, with the rest still pending. Unlike last year, no Diwali bonus was given this time.
They also claim senior officials treat them unfairly. Fingers are pointed at contractor A&S Outsourcing Solutions and metro rail staff for these issues.
The workers have warned they won’t return to work until their salaries are cleared. However, the Metro Rail Corporation has arranged extra staff, ensuring metro services face no disruption.
